Hello, my name is Sander van Vugt

I am an independent Linux author, trainer and consultant. My focus is on Linux service in enterprise environments. As such I work with SUSE, Red Hat and Ubuntu.

Apart from general Linux, I am specialized in Linux High Availability Clusters and I have advised several customers all over the world in setting up these clusters.

My other focal area is Linux Performance. I have optimized performance for many servers already, with never less than a 20% performance gain.

Teaching is one of my passions

Teaching about Red Hat, SUSE and LPI Linux is one of my passions.

I gave my first technical training in The Netherlands 1994 and nowadays I fly all over the world to help students understanding Linux related topics.

On the other hand I also enjoy teaching students via the internet in a virtual classroom where I can interact and make sure each student really understands the topics which we discuss.

From frustrated user to Best-Selling Author

My motivation for writing books presented itself in the early days when I started using Linux in 1992.

Much of the online documentation – especially in the early days of Linux- was hard to read. My goal was to translate available information into something users can really understand and can work with.

My first book ‘Novell Cluster Services for Linux and NetWare’ {LINK MAKEN} was published in 2006 and is still available on Amazon.

After that, numerous books and articles about different Linux-related topics such as Ubuntu and SUSE followed.

My latest book Red Hat RHCE® / RHCSA™ 7 Cert Guide is the first guide about this topic available across the globe!

Working in highly specialized IT environments

I’ve done some challenging consultancy projects recently. Most of these have included Linux High Availability, Virtualization and SELinux .

My typical consultancy customers are Fortune 500 customers that want an independent analyzis of their situation.

They often find me because they’ve read one of my books and that already is an honour.

What I like about projects for this type of customers, is that they are using highly specialized IT environments, and I work with very skilled specialists. Together we come to a solution that improves the way they are doing business.
